Volume Jump
What it means: A sudden, significant increase in the amount of an asset being traded within a specific window.
In plain terms: A burst of "crowd activity." It shows people are suddenly very interested in buying or selling.
Example: If daily BTC volume is usually $10B but suddenly hits $20B, that’s a Volume Jump.
- Bonds: Rare; usually only occurs during major central bank policy shifts.
- Equities: Common around quarterly earnings reports or major corporate news.
- Crypto: Aggressive and frequent; usually a precursor to a massive price breakout or crash.
How to use it: High volume "confirms" a price move. If the price goes up on a Volume Jump, the move is more likely to be real than a "fakeout."
